LIWEED is a non-governmental, non-profit-making, and non-political organisation founded in 2014 by a Kano State indigenous widow, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2015 under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1, 1990 part C of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (RC 83061) to promote charity, equality, and love geared towards social and economic empowerment for widows, orphans, and vulnerable persons in society.
LIWEED believes that the community will only truly embrace development if they themselves identify their needs and lead the process of change. Most NGOs specialise in one or two areas, but LIWEED has retained its emphasis on the holistic approach — working across all sectors of the development context for effective and sustainable service delivery.

A society where marginalised persons enjoy equal love and economic power irrespective of their status.
Mission
To provide quality information and service to women and vulnerable groups through skills acquisition, counselling, monitoring, enlightenment, and advocacy in order to achieve self-sustainable development programmes.
Goal
To significantly reduce the plight of widows, orphans, and vulnerable groups from being wholly dependent on society to becoming self-sustaining and economically independent.
