LIWEED promotes peaceful coexistence by helping communities prevent conflict, manage disagreements and strengthen relationships among individuals and groups. The organization engages community members, traditional leaders, women, young people, religious leaders and other stakeholders through dialogue, sensitization, advocacy and collaborative problem-solving.
Its peacebuilding approach addresses some of the social and economic conditions that can contribute to tension, including poverty, unemployment, exclusion, discrimination and limited access to opportunities. LIWEED encourages communication, tolerance, inclusion and non-violent ways of resolving disputes.
By supporting community-led dialogue and connecting vulnerable people with services and livelihood opportunities, LIWEED helps reduce tension and creates an environment in which families and communities can recover, cooperate and develop together.
