Gender-Based Violence & Community Development
Preventing gender-based violence, supporting survivors and empowering communities through advocacy, protection, inclusion and development initiatives that promote safety, equality, dignity and justice.
LIWEED works to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, discrimination, abuse, exploitation and harmful practices affecting women, girls, children and other vulnerable people. The organization provides awareness, counselling, psychosocial support, referrals and access to legal, health and protection services for survivors and people at risk.
Through community sensitization and advocacy, LIWEED challenges attitudes and practices that normalize violence, deny people their rights or prevent women and girls from participating fully in society. It works with families, community leaders, government institutions, legal professionals, protection agencies and civil-society partners to promote accountability, survivor safety and access to justice.
LIWEED’s community-development approach ensures that local people participate in identifying their needs and leading the process of change. The organization combines protection services with education, health support, economic empowerment, food assistance and community engagement so that survivors and vulnerable households can recover in a supportive environment. This integrated approach helps communities become safer, more inclusive and better equipped to protect the dignity and rights of every person.
