Rural Agricultural Programme
A 10-hectare farm in Sumaila LGA growing cereals — rice, maize, millet, wheat and arable crops — to feed beneficiaries and train them in farming for independence.
LIWEED is committed to fighting off hunger as the first enemy of vulnerable persons in the state. This is why, in addition to the food bank, we operate a rural agricultural programme to grow part of the food we donate and also to train enabled orphans, widows, and other vulnerable persons on farming for feeding and independence.
As at August 2021, LIWEED operates about 10 hectares of farm in Sumaila local government comprising of cereals — rice, maize, millet, wheat, and arable crops. We receive donations of farm inputs, improved seeds, and agro-chemicals towards this end.
